Before I joined CrossFit Flood in the summer of 2012, I was a member of 24 Hour Fitness. All I cared about was lifting weights and getting bigger. When I first started CrossFit, I was afraid of getting weaker since many of the workouts are so cardio heavy. Not only did I get stronger, I also increased my cardiovascular endurance substantially.
I first walked through the door of CrossFit Flood two years ago. I was middle aged, overweight, super stressed, and tired all the time. Coach Mike and Coach Brian were welcoming and informative. I immediately bought into the philosophy of CrossFit and I was excited to get started. Of course I had to scale almost every workout but I didn’t care. I started to make slow but steady progress and occasionally I can do a workout as prescribed (RX)! Everyone at CrossFit Flood is so nice and I am actually having fun exercising! Here I am, two years later, at 50 years old, and I have never felt better in my whole life. This past year I signed up for the CrossFit Open, competed in three USAW weightlifting competitions and the Rumble in Paradise, an invitational CrossFit Competition in San Diego.
Sometimes all we need is an extra push, and coaches Brian and Mike are always there to make sure we are reaching our potential. They push us beyond our physical and mental comfort zones to show us what we are truly capable of. They have been phenomenal in their efforts to make us better everyday. I have met so many great people that keep me going, and Brian and Mike–as well as the rest of the community–are the most motivating factor for me. I am happy to call CrossFit Flood my family! :)
