I drive by at least 8 other CrossFit gyms to get to this one, because of the people. This isn’t one of those competitors only gyms, where if you’re not at the next CrossFit games, you aren’t a priority. Flood is far from that; the coaches want you to be the best you can be. If that means doing body weight work when the prescribed weight is 115, then that’s what you’re doing. The other members are just as encouraging, no matter what level you’re working at. Everyone is supportive and motivates you to do your very best. There are class times to fit everyone’s schedule and unlike other gyms; people plan to do things together on the weekends. Weekend volleyball games, hikes, or even a holiday party; you’re not just joining a gym, you’re joining the Flood family.
I was once that girl that would hide in the corner of the gym and do my short cardio session super early so not one would see me because i didnt want to be made fun of.. BUT NOW I am unstoppable, committed, proud and motivated all thanks to my family at Crossfit Flood!! This place and my new love for CROSSFIT changed my LIFE COMPLETELY! I found more that what I expected here at flood! I found community, support, dedication and genuine coaches and people who really want to see each other meet our goals! I was so scared to join CrossFit with 0 experience and being overweight, however, that fear went away after the first day of coming here! It’s never too late to make positive changes in your life, whether you are ready or not, Flood will make you feel like you have it all together!! •Joined July 5, 2017
I recently came back to CrossFit Flood after a little absence over a year and a half maybe. Coach Mike is awesome; he's also the owner. We have new coaches that are awesome - they encourage me and push me to get the best out of my workouts. I had gained a few pounds, and have been back for a month and have lost weight already. The box has also gone thru renovations; we have new equipment and a larger space - 5,000 square feet. It's not only a CrossFit but a strong community of individuals there for many reasons. CrossFit Flood is definitely worth every penny. You might think you're paying a lot, but not really, the benefits of being fit and happy have no price. Plus the things I'm learning, translates into my life. Where I'm like it's okay, little by little I'll get there. Just like anything, it takes time and hard work. CrossFit Flood will help you get to where you want to be and you'll have coaches pushing you to your limits and they will cheer you on and encourage you, EACH step of the way!
What an amazing group of people! Not only did they win me over with the community they've created but the programming they have is pretty legit. If you're looking for a place to drop in at or even call your home, this is where you should go! I can't wait to visit the area again so I can WOD with everyone again! Until next time guys & gals!
Excellent kids CrossFit classes on the weekends! Mike is patient and makes the class fun for the kids. My kids are sweaty and happy when they leave class. Both of my kids are not interested in sports so I'm happy that they found a physical activity they love. I think Mike is a big reason why my kids are enjoying their introduction to CrossFit. He's a great teacher! Does a good job explaining movements, and I'm impressed at how well he keeps the kids interest and focus!
My daughter attends the kids class on the weekends and she loves it. Coach Mike is awesome at what he does. He keeps the kids focused, motivated and makes the class fun at the same time making sure the kids always want to come back for more. My daughter also trains Brazilian Jiu-jitsu and CrossFit has really helped her out. If your in the area or thought about bringing your kid in to try a class, do not hesitate to give Coach Mike and CrossFit Flood a try. You will not be disappointed.
Dropped in this last week when I was in town on travel. Walked through the door and was immediately approached by coach Mike. He asked about my background and gave me a quick rundown of the gym. I wasn’t able to make the CrossFit class but was able to join their Oly lifting class which was a huge help for me as I don’t get to spend as much time as I’d like to on it. Really helpful coach and welcoming athletes. Excited to drop in again next time in town.
I've always said the hardest part is walking in the door, especially for the first time. If you've been thinking about trying CrossFit but feel intimidated or think you need to be in better shape before you start, just come in. The coaches are amazing and will scale any workout to meet your current ability. The other members will welcome you and cheer you on. If you've been in CrossFit for a while and looking for a new box, this is the place. I've been part of a few different gyms and this one is it. Coach Mike, the owner, genuinely loves what it does, cares about the members of his gym and creating a community of all types of people with the same goal...to live a healthier life. I can't believe how much progress I've made in the past year and I couldn't have done it on my own. I love the Flood family and you will too.
This place had become my home away from home! I had been wanting to check out CrossFit for awhile so my husband and I got the one week free trial. I never expected to find such an awesome community/family! The coaches are very knowledgeable, helpful and motivating.
I had the pleasure of dropping in with CrossFit Flood when visiting family and loved my experience with this community. Mike was very welcoming and all the coaches were extremely friendly and attentive. Shout out to Coach Taylor who after watching me workout one day, wouldn't allow me to slack the next! Great coaching! The facility is large and clean with great resources/equipment. The members are friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area and I plan to come back whenever I'm in town! Thank you CrossFit Flood!
Sometimes all we need is an extra push, and coaches Brian and Mike are always there to make sure we are reaching our potential. They push us beyond our physical and mental comfort zones to show us what we are truly capable of. They have been phenomenal in their efforts to make us better everyday. I have met so many great people that keep me going, and Brian and Mike–as well as the rest of the community–are the most motivating factor for me. I am happy to call CrossFit Flood my family! 🙂
This place is awesome!!! coaches are great and knowledgeable, work out is brutal but satisfying and the community is the best part. I never liked sport but I fell in love with CrossFit thanks to Mike and his team. I'm 36 years old and in the best shape of my life
This is an awesome gym! I have been going here for about a month now. All the coaches have been very welcoming and helpful. I was nervous to start Crossfit but I am glad I did! Every day is challenging and motivating. Take advantage of the free trial week and you will love it! Mike and Brian are awesome guys!
Crossfit Flood delivers the quintessential Crossfit experience – great programming that scales for all fitness levels, encouraging coaches, and a welcoming community. Flood is a judgment and ego-free zone that is perfect for entry-level and experienced crossfitters alike. Stop thinking about it and join already! You won’t regret it.
I've been at this gym for a little over 2 years and can truly say I'm in love with the CrossFit lifestyle. The gym is a community of support, encouragement, and fun! The coaching staff is wonderful and have a wealth of knowledge to get you to the next level of health and fitness that you desire.
My husband and I joined CrossFit Flood in February 2012. I couldn’t even do a full (air) squat that first intro class, but I knew I wanted to come back for more. The trainers were so encouraging and all those “crazy CrossFitters” were actually down to earth and just as encouraging as the trainers. I felt instantly supported and never once has someone rolled their eyes or chuckled at me when I have to scale my workouts. We cheer each other on to do our best and help each off the floor after a tough WOD. I was never a “strong” girl, but I know I am stronger now than I have ever been. And yes, even the girl that couldn’t do a squat, can now squat 100lbs!
Crossfit Flood’s trainers/owners, Mike and Brian, are awesome. They are concerned with your form throughout everything, which you hear a lot about when listening to people rag on Crossfit. They push you to your limits without screaming at you like maniacs. At Flood you find the true spirit of Crossfit. The trainers and the members cheer each other on; whether in competition with one another or just on the sideline everyone just wants the people working out to feel better and be better than they were the day before. Whether you’re setting a goal to lose weight, to get stronger, or to become more generally healthy and fit, Brian and Mike are there for you and will help you reach your goals.
I’ve been a member of Crossfit Flood for almost 4 years now and it’s an awesome gym with great, great people. The trainers are supportive and push you to be your best, but recognize everyone is at a different level of fitness. After spending years at the Y or trying to keep fit on my own, the atmosphere of community and challenge is what keeps me going back for more. The classes are small enough that you’ll get individual attention, and you’re sure to know people by name when you leave after your first session.
This cf box still has the feel of cf gyms from 6+ years ago... What you do have is a close knit group of trainers and members that make for a great experience. Lots of support and knowledge floating around here. Their pricing is more in line with reality than other boxes in the area. But here’s their best attribute, in my opinion. The programming! It is done logically. It makes sense. It’s exactly what I expect from a cf gym and that is, overall fitness. This gym deserves the positive reviews it’s receiving. Keep up the good work!
I dropped in for a Saturday class and was impressed with culture and the workout. Coach Mike was super friendly and knowledgable and everyone I met was super nice as well. Loved that my older kids could stay in their waiting room and play while I worked out. We stayed and let the kids do the kids class. They loved it! Came back Sunday for another class for them. We'll definitely be coming back. Also, they have a military discount on top of their already awesome prices. Kid friendly, great work out, great people, great prices. What more could you want from a gym?
Absolutely Fantastic! I came all the way from North Dakota for a Pastors conference, I got several great workouts in at CrossFit Flood. Great community and coaches.
Great community of regular people working hard towards being more fit and healthy. The workouts are great for all levels because the coaches help everyone find scales or extras to push each individuals abilities. I have been going to this gym since 2015.
Mike and Brian are great guys who are running a fantastic gym. I dropped in at CF Flood for the first time about 2 years ago and Brian welcomed me in open arms. I came back yesterday (Feb 2015) and Mike greeted me as if I was a regular and made me feel right at home... I’ve been to a number of boxes around the US and in Europe during my travels and I have to say that Flood is the friendliest and most professional of all the boxes I’ve dropped in on. I’d highly recommend joining CF Flood and being part of the fantastic workouts and great community Mike and Brian have put together. I look forward to my next visit to San Diego and dropping in on a class again.
Crossfit has changed my exercise experience. For the first time ever, working out is not a chore; I look forward to going to the gym. The variety of exercise is tremendous. We do so many different things I have no opportunity to get bored or in a routine. I like the discipline of selecting the days I work out and accepting the posted exercise routine for that day – it makes me challenge and push myself in ways I have not before.
Very knowledgeable and friendly team here! The gym is a nice size with a big back area. The coaches Mike and Jared are super cool and friendly. They are attentive the whole class while at the same time keeping it fun. There seems to an a lot of people who do bjj here too for their strength training. I would recommend this place for all levels. Also plenty of parking.
I have been part of the CrossFit Flood family since March of 2010. When I first started CrossFit I was nervous and out of shape. I knew the stigma about CrossFit and was not sure I was ready for this type of intensity. What I found was a community open to every ability level. The encouragement to give each workout my best yet work at my own ability has been incredible. I now have great friends who I look forward to seeing each week. I know they will be both encouraging and push me to do the best I can. CrossFit Flood is the only gym I have ever found with this type of community.
Great location and friendly staff! I’m new to cross-fit and very surprised at the results in such a short period of time. I wish I started a long time ago. If getting in the best shape of your life interests you..give it a shot. You won’t be disappointed!
Great atmosphere; super nice people; coaching rocks! Started going there late last year. I'm not the most physically adept guy on earth, and the coaches there were and are super helpful. Love attending Flood!
I’ve been coming here for almost 4 months now. The trainers that I’ve met (Mike & Ahri) are great! Both very motivational and knowledgeable. I was just looking to get back in shape, but found much more! It’s definitely challenging, but much more rewarding. Even the people in the classes are great! I can’t say enough about this place! I’ve made a lot of progress with a lot more to go and I won’t be stopping any time soon. Thanks to everyone here that has, and continues to help me be better!
I absolutely love the community that this gym has, the energy and the caring coaches. They're always there to support you and keep you motivated. I really appreciate that you can scale and modify workouts based on your fitness level and strength. The coaches are there to help you and ensure you don't injure yourself. CrossFit is a great investment on your physical and mental well being. Highly recommend 🙂
This place is awesome. I didn't even know what CrossFit was and I came in for a free week and have never left! 9 months later here I am reaching goals I never thought I could reach!! The coaches and people who workout here are so supportive! Thanks for such an awesome atmosphere!
This gym is really great, I would definitely recommend giving it a try! I came here for a couple months while in SD. The coaches are all very friendly and knowledgeable and the other members are very welcoming. I hadn't done CrossFit before, but the coaches did a great job of explaining things and modifying workouts when necessary. There was good variation in the workouts and I always left feeling tired. Pricing was also very reasonable. I would return if I was back in SD again!
Great community. Members are welcoming and supportive of each other.Coaches are great. This the only reasonably priced CF gym in San Diego.
This place is so great!! Today was my first day of the free week and I tried out a group session with Coach Mike. He is so very helpful and detail-oriented-- it made this noob cross fitter feel so much more at ease and comfortable. I've had previous fitness experience, but felt that this was what I needed to boost my energy and take my anxiety/ frustrations, etc etc etc. out and boy it succeeded. Can't wait to come back for the rest of the week and possibly become a member in the near future! Thanks Flood CrossFit!!
I first walked through the door of CrossFit Flood two years ago. I was middle aged, overweight, super stressed, and tired all the time. Coach Mike and Coach Brian were welcoming and informative. I immediately bought into the philosophy of CrossFit and I was excited to get started. Of course I had to scale almost every workout but I didn’t care. I started to make slow but steady progress and occasionally I can do a workout as prescribed (RX)! Everyone at CrossFit Flood is so nice and I am actually having fun exercising! Here I am, two years later, at 50 years old, and I have never felt better in my whole life. This past year I signed up for the CrossFit Open, competed in three USAW weightlifting competitions and the Rumble in Paradise, an invitational CrossFit Competition in San Diego.
I will never be able to express just how grateful I am to be part of the Flood Family. From the day I went in to try out a class I felt right at home and knew I was where I needed to be. The owners and trainers are dedicated to being the best they can for their members, all the while giving you the friendship and motivation that I believe is integral for a CrossFit Box.
The Coaches and owners are very good people who really stress the importance of proper form over how much weight you can lift. Over time you will be doing more than you ever though possible pushing yourself to reach the next level. My favorite part of this gym is the sense of community and great friendships. With lots of events(Flood, Sweat, Beers) it is easy to feel part of a team every time you go. It doesn’t matter if you are a Beast in the gym or have never lifted anything in your life I have never felt judged or put down here. This is a great gym and more than that an amazing community.
I’ve been coming here for about 2.5 – 3 years now. The coaches are great, the programming is excellent, and the community is very close. CrossFit Flood will have many community events throughout the year such as the summer competition day within the gym called “Flood, Sweat, and Beers”, the annual Christmas party, and more. These events help the community grow even closer and help members meet each other who otherwise would never have met. The members who usually go to the 4pm class will get to meet members they may not have met because they go to the 6:30am class. No one has ever been judgmental against me. Quite the opposite in fact, this gym is nothing but encouraging. I once finished a workout that took me much longer than everyone else, and everyone stuck around and encouraged me until I finished.
Before I joined CrossFit Flood in the summer of 2012, I was a member of 24 Hour Fitness. All I cared about was lifting weights and getting bigger. When I first started CrossFit, I was afraid of getting weaker since many of the workouts are so cardio heavy. Not only did I get stronger, I also increased my cardiovascular endurance substantially.
First time here today! Wow, what a gym. I'm used to other gyms but this one is specifically for CrossFit training. I am new on the journey and will continue to come here to get the results I've been looking for. After losing almost 80lbs. I'm not comfortable enough in my own skin to push further. Owner/ Coach Mike gave me a tour. Gave me knowledge and helped me feel at home here. I will be back in the next few weeks for the start of the New You Challenge (6 week program). I look forward to these results and eating the proper portions for me. Thank you for making me feel welcome !!!
I have been here two times, its small but don't let that fool you. The trainers and the work outs are intense. Will have your heart pumping and body sweating! I recommend trying this gym out if you live around the area, its kinda' hidden but its behind Harley Davidson Dealer (update: Harley Davidson moved...future home of Tesla). Give it a try, you too will be impressed.
Since joining CrossFit, I’ve reached a level of fitness I didn’t know I had in me, and I’m NEVER bored. Although I’m not a competitive person, the group atmosphere still motivates me, because I’m with people I respect and enjoy. The encouragement and camaraderie of CrossFit Flood and the CrossFit community as a whole are amazing. I’ll never go back to a traditional gym!
I love the camaraderie and the encouragement of all the members in the gym, both men and women. The coaches really take their time to get to know each individual’s strengths and weaknesses and push you just far enough. There’s nothing like hearing “add more weight to the bar” from Coach Brian and receiving that smile from him when I accomplish a new PR on a lift. I am also becoming a “cool mom” and role model for my kids. My 6-year old daughter said to me, “That was cool mom when you did those handstands. I didn’t know you could do that.” Or when she sees the calluses on my hands and realizes that mom can swing from the monkey bars too (pull up bars in my case). Thank you CrossFit Flood and all of the members that continue to push me forward!
I love this place! I wrote a review on their FB page but I'll just reiterate how I love this CrossFit community. The coaches are excellent and the programming is a beast and a killer but it kicks my butt and i love it. Everyone always encourages me despite me being the slowest in the class. Just a great positive community and I'm glad I found this box. Coach Mike and Jared are awesome!
My first day here today ,I never been to this kind of workout before ,it hard for me but I did it good so far and I feel I love it ,everyone very nice and friendly,Mike and Brian very helpful, they will give you try for free a week to make sure I like them before you want to sign up
It was the first time I was able to work out and give 100% while not feeling weird for making grunting noises, or have to apologize for leaving a trail of sweat behind me. It was great to compete against the others in my class and engage in camaraderie as a result of the extremely difficult workout we endured together. My hands were getting torn apart, my shins scraped up, and I was sore in places that I didn’t know muscles existed – and I loved every minute of it. Listen to me, I sound like a beast. Well I assure you I’m not, but I definitely feel like one after completing a WOD.
Super awesome CrossFit gym in the Kearny Mesa area. I checked out a morning class. The coach was very welcoming and helpful in teaching the workouts. Great vibes. Totally knowledgeable and friendly coach. Really cool people in the gym too! The gym is a bit hidden in the back area of the warehouse area but it's a nice spot once you find it! Everything you could want from a CrossFit gym. I'm totally signing up! Totally check them out if you're in the central SD area!
Since joining Crossfit Flood I have lost fat and gained muscle, but more importantly I have gained CONFIDENCE. My body and strength has changed more drastically in one year by coming to this gym than in 5 years of going to 24 Fitness and doing the same workout every other day.
