Sometimes all we need is an extra push, and coaches Brian and Mike are always there to make sure we are reaching our potential. They push us beyond our physical and mental comfort zones to show us what we are truly capable of. They have been phenomenal in their efforts to make us better everyday. I have met so many great people that keep me going, and Brian and Mike–as well as the rest of the community–are the most motivating factor for me. I am happy to call CrossFit Flood my family! 🙂
This is an awesome gym! I have been going here for about a month now. All the coaches have been very welcoming and helpful. I was nervous to start Crossfit but I am glad I did! Every day is challenging and motivating. Take advantage of the free trial week and you will love it! Mike and Brian are awesome guys!
Crossfit Flood delivers the quintessential Crossfit experience – great programming that scales for all fitness levels, encouraging coaches, and a welcoming community. Flood is a judgment and ego-free zone that is perfect for entry-level and experienced crossfitters alike. Stop thinking about it and join already! You won’t regret it.
My husband and I joined CrossFit Flood in February 2012. I couldn’t even do a full (air) squat that first intro class, but I knew I wanted to come back for more. The trainers were so encouraging and all those “crazy CrossFitters” were actually down to earth and just as encouraging as the trainers. I felt instantly supported and never once has someone rolled their eyes or chuckled at me when I have to scale my workouts. We cheer each other on to do our best and help each off the floor after a tough WOD. I was never a “strong” girl, but I know I am stronger now than I have ever been. And yes, even the girl that couldn’t do a squat, can now squat 100lbs!
Crossfit Flood’s trainers/owners, Mike and Brian, are awesome. They are concerned with your form throughout everything, which you hear a lot about when listening to people rag on Crossfit. They push you to your limits without screaming at you like maniacs. At Flood you find the true spirit of Crossfit. The trainers and the members cheer each other on; whether in competition with one another or just on the sideline everyone just wants the people working out to feel better and be better than they were the day before. Whether you’re setting a goal to lose weight, to get stronger, or to become more generally healthy and fit, Brian and Mike are there for you and will help you reach your goals.
I’ve been a member of Crossfit Flood for almost 4 years now and it’s an awesome gym with great, great people. The trainers are supportive and push you to be your best, but recognize everyone is at a different level of fitness. After spending years at the Y or trying to keep fit on my own, the atmosphere of community and challenge is what keeps me going back for more. The classes are small enough that you’ll get individual attention, and you’re sure to know people by name when you leave after your first session.
This cf box still has the feel of cf gyms from 6+ years ago... What you do have is a close knit group of trainers and members that make for a great experience. Lots of support and knowledge floating around here. Their pricing is more in line with reality than other boxes in the area. But here’s their best attribute, in my opinion. The programming! It is done logically. It makes sense. It’s exactly what I expect from a cf gym and that is, overall fitness. This gym deserves the positive reviews it’s receiving. Keep up the good work!
Mike and Brian are great guys who are running a fantastic gym. I dropped in at CF Flood for the first time about 2 years ago and Brian welcomed me in open arms. I came back yesterday (Feb 2015) and Mike greeted me as if I was a regular and made me feel right at home... I’ve been to a number of boxes around the US and in Europe during my travels and I have to say that Flood is the friendliest and most professional of all the boxes I’ve dropped in on. I’d highly recommend joining CF Flood and being part of the fantastic workouts and great community Mike and Brian have put together. I look forward to my next visit to San Diego and dropping in on a class again.
Crossfit has changed my exercise experience. For the first time ever, working out is not a chore; I look forward to going to the gym. The variety of exercise is tremendous. We do so many different things I have no opportunity to get bored or in a routine. I like the discipline of selecting the days I work out and accepting the posted exercise routine for that day – it makes me challenge and push myself in ways I have not before.
I have been part of the CrossFit Flood family since March of 2010. When I first started CrossFit I was nervous and out of shape. I knew the stigma about CrossFit and was not sure I was ready for this type of intensity. What I found was a community open to every ability level. The encouragement to give each workout my best yet work at my own ability has been incredible. I now have great friends who I look forward to seeing each week. I know they will be both encouraging and push me to do the best I can. CrossFit Flood is the only gym I have ever found with this type of community.
Great location and friendly staff! I’m new to cross-fit and very surprised at the results in such a short period of time. I wish I started a long time ago. If getting in the best shape of your life interests you..give it a shot. You won’t be disappointed!
I’ve been coming here for almost 4 months now. The trainers that I’ve met (Mike & Ahri) are great! Both very motivational and knowledgeable. I was just looking to get back in shape, but found much more! It’s definitely challenging, but much more rewarding. Even the people in the classes are great! I can’t say enough about this place! I’ve made a lot of progress with a lot more to go and I won’t be stopping any time soon. Thanks to everyone here that has, and continues to help me be better!
I first walked through the door of CrossFit Flood two years ago. I was middle aged, overweight, super stressed, and tired all the time. Coach Mike and Coach Brian were welcoming and informative. I immediately bought into the philosophy of CrossFit and I was excited to get started. Of course I had to scale almost every workout but I didn’t care. I started to make slow but steady progress and occasionally I can do a workout as prescribed (RX)! Everyone at CrossFit Flood is so nice and I am actually having fun exercising! Here I am, two years later, at 50 years old, and I have never felt better in my whole life. This past year I signed up for the CrossFit Open, competed in three USAW weightlifting competitions and the Rumble in Paradise, an invitational CrossFit Competition in San Diego.
I will never be able to express just how grateful I am to be part of the Flood Family. From the day I went in to try out a class I felt right at home and knew I was where I needed to be. The owners and trainers are dedicated to being the best they can for their members, all the while giving you the friendship and motivation that I believe is integral for a CrossFit Box.
I drive by at least 8 other cross fit gyms to get to this one, because of the people. This isn’t one of those competitors only gyms, where if you’re not at the next crossfit games, you aren’t a priority. Flood is far from that; the coaches want you to be the best you can be. If that means doing body weight work when the prescribed weight is 115, then that’s what you’re doing. The other members are just as encouraging, no matter what level you’re working at. Everyone is supportive and motivates you to do your very best. There are class times to fit everyone’s schedule and unlike other gyms; people plan to do things together on the weekends. Weekend volleyball games, hikes, or even a holiday party; you’re not just joining a gym, you’re joining the Flood family.
The Coaches and owners are very good people who really stress the importance of proper form over how much weight you can lift. Over time you will be doing more than you ever though possible pushing yourself to reach the next level. My favorite part of this gym is the sense of community and great friendships. With lots of events(Flood, Sweat, Beers) it is easy to feel part of a team every time you go. It doesn’t matter if you are a Beast in the gym or have never lifted anything in your life I have never felt judged or put down here. This is a great gym and more than that an amazing community.
I’ve been coming here for about 2.5 – 3 years now. The coaches are great, the programming is excellent, and the community is very close. CrossFit Flood will have many community events throughout the year such as the summer competition day within the gym called “Flood, Sweat, and Beers”, the annual Christmas party, and more. These events help the community grow even closer and help members meet each other who otherwise would never have met. The members who usually go to the 4pm class will get to meet members they may not have met because they go to the 6:30am class. No one has ever been judgmental against me. Quite the opposite in fact, this gym is nothing but encouraging. I once finished a workout that took me much longer than everyone else, and everyone stuck around and encouraged me until I finished.
Before I joined CrossFit Flood in the summer of 2012, I was a member of 24 Hour Fitness. All I cared about was lifting weights and getting bigger. When I first started CrossFit, I was afraid of getting weaker since many of the workouts are so cardio heavy. Not only did I get stronger, I also increased my cardiovascular endurance substantially.
Since joining CrossFit, I’ve reached a level of fitness I didn’t know I had in me, and I’m NEVER bored. Although I’m not a competitive person, the group atmosphere still motivates me, because I’m with people I respect and enjoy. The encouragement and camaraderie of CrossFit Flood and the CrossFit community as a whole are amazing. I’ll never go back to a traditional gym!
I love the camaraderie and the encouragement of all the members in the gym, both men and women. The coaches really take their time to get to know each individual’s strengths and weaknesses and push you just far enough. There’s nothing like hearing “add more weight to the bar” from Coach Brian and receiving that smile from him when I accomplish a new PR on a lift. I am also becoming a “cool mom” and role model for my kids. My 6-year old daughter said to me, “That was cool mom when you did those handstands. I didn’t know you could do that.” Or when she sees the calluses on my hands and realizes that mom can swing from the monkey bars too (pull up bars in my case). Thank you CrossFit Flood and all of the members that continue to push me forward!
